Follow-up on yesterday's Freedom Alliance Diary, on their spending habits.
Yesterday Dec 13, Thomas Kilgannon, President of the "Freedom Alliance" a Veterans Charity, or 501c3 Charity, writes about a Washington Post article, Printed earlier in this week, Dec 12, on Public Charity's.
In his response to the article by Philip Rucker, he writes that "77 percent was spent on Programs",What he wants you to believe is that is 77% of money donated, is spent on Veterans and or their families! This is far from the truth!
Now if one goes to Freedom Alliance's 2006, Form 990;
Part 1 Line 13 Program Services = $5,434,538 is reported for Program Services!
There's one problem that I can see, $5,434,538 is not 77% of $9,594,995! It's 56.63% of $9,594,995!
What he fails to mention is that this $5.6 million spent on Programs, includes everything from: Part II, Lines 22a-43g Column B (Program Services).
These "Program Expenses" include everything from: Stamps, printing, conferences, salaries, consultants etc, and $397,900 in Direct Cash Grants to Veterans, and their families!
It's play on words, because he can't really report publicly what is actually being spent, now can he?
The only money that is being spent on Veteran Programs exclusively is the $397,900, and that's not 77% of $9,594,995, it's roughly .0414 percent!
